26.08.09 In the news today

A couple of stories in the papers caught my eye this morning.  Yes, the news that there's been a jump in mortgage approvals and Vodafone's share price has gone up again made me giddy with excitement, but I speak of other matters my friends.  JLS have apparently been called in by their management to warn them not to start spending excessively, as pictures emerged of Aston taking his new white Audi TT with personalised number plate "JLS" (yikes) for a spin.  Where was he snapped?  That's right, a McDonald's drive-thru. 

Second story to catch my eye was that next year will most likely see the final series of Big Brother.  Ok, so each year is less good than the one that's gone before and it's losing viewers, but it has provided us with some great moments of TV and a lot of laughs over the years.  And of course we'll be forever grateful that it discovered the well-hidden talents of Kate Lawler.  Which seem to have gone back into hiding. 

And finally Radio 1 yesterday played Alexandra Burke's new single "Bad Boys" which is HUGE, features Flo-Rida and will be a staple on the airwaves pretty soon.  Leona who?
